the experience

01

planning

Before your session, we’ll talk about your pet, the locations you love, and what you hope to preserve. We’ll also review availability, expectations, and ideas for displaying your finished artwork.

02

SESSION DAY

This is your pet’s time to shine. Sessions are relaxed, playful, and shaped around their personality—whether they pose beautifully, explore everything in sight, or need a little extra time to feel comfortable.

03

the reveal

About three weeks after your session, we’ll meet for your portrait reveal. You’ll see your finished images for the first time, choose your favorites, and decide how you would like to enjoy them in your home.

04

your artwork

When your artwork is ready, I’ll contact you to arrange a convenient time for you to receive it. Every piece will arrive fully prepared for display, so it can become part of your home from the moment you receive it.

Every session takes place on location in the Flathead Valley and typically lasts from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on your pet, the setting, and the story we are creating together.

Why

Professional Pet Photography

Matters

Two framed dog portrait photographs hang on a warm brown wall above a vintage wooden desk in a study.

The animals we love hold a permanent place in our lives, and that connection deserves to be preserved with care and intention.

Perhaps you have wondered whether your pet is too energetic, too shy around strangers, or simply unwilling to look at the camera. Maybe you already have hundreds of phone photos and are not sure a professional session is necessary.

Phone photos preserve wonderful pieces of everyday life. A professional portrait experience gives you the time, guidance, and artistic intention to preserve your pet’s personality and your connection in a more lasting way.

Two large framed dog photographs hang on a beige wall above a green leather sectional sofa in a modern living room.

I have worked with animals of many personalities and backgrounds, including shelter pets still learning how to trust. With patience and careful attention, I create a calm experience that allows each animal’s true personality to come through.

As a professional photographer and certified grief coach, I understand how deeply animals become woven into our lives and how meaningful it is to preserve that connection. I guide you through every step—from selecting a setting that feels right for your pet to creating finished artwork that reflects the bond you share.

Because these aren’t simply portraits.

They are part of your story—beautifully preserved.

FAQ

My pet is very hyper (shy, anxious, nervous...) and will never sit, listen, or cooperate for a session.

Not at all! My goal is to capture your pet’s true personality—not to expect perfect behavior. Before the session, we’ll talk about their temperament, comfort level, and anything I should know to help them feel at ease. I’ll also give them time to get comfortable with me and my camera before we begin.

Through my work with pets of many personalities and energy levels, including animals at the Humane Society of Northwest Montana, I’ve learned how to adapt each session with patience and care. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, anxious, or simply has a mind of their own, we’ll work at their pace and create beautiful, authentic portraits together.

Are your sessions only for my pet or I can be in the photos too?

Absolutely! We can focus primarily on your pet, but you are always welcome to be included. During the pre-session consultation, we’ll talk through the kinds of images you would like to create and how involved you want to be.

Even when clients prefer their pet to be the star, I encourage them to consider at least one portrait together. The bond you share is an important part of their story, and having it preserved may become especially meaningful over time.

I can't let my dog off-leash but I want to have our session outside.

Your pet’s safety is always my top priority. I only recommend allowing a dog off-leash in a safe environment and when you are fully confident in their recall. If your dog needs to remain leashed, that is completely fine—I can remove the leash and other minor distractions during post-processing at no additional charge.

My pet doesn't have much time left. What can I expect during "Celebrate Life" session?

I’m so very sorry. Saying goodbye to a beloved companion is one of the most heartbreaking experiences we face.

While I cannot stop time, I will do everything I can to preserve the love, personality, and meaningful details of your pet’s final chapter. During our pre-session consultation, we’ll talk about their favorite places, activities, and the little things you never want to forget. The session will take place in a familiar, comfortable setting and move entirely at your pet’s pace.

This experience is about honoring your pet and creating heartfelt portraits that preserve the extraordinary bond you share.

I don't know what product to choose. Do I have to decide now?

It can be helpful to have a general sense of which collection interests you when you book, but you do not need to make any final decisions beforehand. During your portrait reveal and ordering appointment, you’ll see all of your finished images and can choose the collection and artwork that feel right for you.

How far outside of Kalispell do you travel?

I'm based in Kalispell and am happy to travel to locations within approximately one hour of the area. For sessions beyond that distance, please contact me for a customized travel quote.

Is there a certain amount I must spend on products?

Signature wall art—such as handcrafted wood pieces, framed canvases, and framed prints—is a favorite among clients. Many also choose to preserve additional images in a fine art album, heirloom folio box, or digital collection.

Your total investment will depend on the number of images you select and how you would like to enjoy them. Most clients invest between $750 and $1,500, although some choose a smaller selection while others create a more extensive collection of artwork for their home.

There is no required purchase beyond what you truly love. Whether you envision one statement piece, a beautiful album, a collection of digital favorites, or artwork throughout your home, we can create an option that feels right for you.

What if I just want a few small prints?

Even smaller prints deserve to feel like finished works of art. My heirloom folio boxes offer a beautiful way to preserve and enjoy your favorite portraits, with sets of 10 or 20 matted prints presented in a custom-designed box. The prints can remain safely stored, be removed for framing and display, or be gifted to the people who love your pet most.

A portrait triplex and boutique gift print collection offer additional ways to enjoy a smaller selection of images. During your ordering appointment, I’ll help you choose the presentation that best complements your larger artwork and feels right for your home.
